Avaana believes that sustainability is now a business driver, due to increasing focus by the three Cs: Consumer, Capital and Community – enabled by tech-and-innovation based affordable solutions.

Consumers have more choice, have become more conscious of their purchases decisions and would rather consume responsibly. Capital is gradually moving to businesses demonstrating responsibility. Communities, including all stakeholders, employees and suppliers, want to be part of something meaningful.

Anjali Bansal named as one of India’s Most Powerful Women in Business

Anjali Bansal has been featured as one of India’s Most Powerful Women in Business, as “Avaana Capital’s Sustainability Crusader” by Fortune India Magazine and as “The Sustainable Investor” by Business Today.
Anjali says – “We are looking at building Avaana as a large sustainability platform, to invest in innovation-led digital-first businesses. The idea is to take what is happening in the innovation ecosystem and apply it to large-scale problem solving.”

Avaana partners with Bombay Chamber for their Sustainability Conclave

Avaana partnered with the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry for their Sustainability Conclave, themed “Creating a Sustainable Tomorrow – Target Net Zero”, which took place on 10th and 11th December, 2021.

The conclave brought together stakeholders across government, policy, corporates and the innovation ecosystem to create a holistic view on sustainability. Shri Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister for Environment Forest and Climate Change; and Labour and Employment, and Mr. Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog were the keynote speakers for the event which also featured discussions on topics such as ESG landscape in India, technology and sustainability, funding for sustainability. Anjali Bansal appointed as President, Bombay Chamber

Anjali Bansal, has been appointed as President of The Bombay Chamber of Commerce for the year 2021-22.

Her focus for the upcoming year would be climate change, ease of doing business, unlocking the under-tapped powerhouse of women, and integrating them into economy-building initiatives and digital transformation.

Avaana supports YPC Climate Summit

The Youth Policy Collective, supported by Avaana Capital, organized its first YPC Climate Summit on October 2nd 2021. YPC is India’s first youth-led thinktank providing a platform for student involvement in policymaking through research and advocacy.

Shri Jayant Sinha, Member of Parliament, spoke about the Bharat Net Zero Bill as well as the Green Frontier. Dr. Rajeswara Rao, Special Secretary, NITI Aayog, discussed the role of youth in policymaking and combating climate change.

The event also featured a panel discussion on the topic “Climate and Sustainability Awareness” with speakers Dr. Praveer Sinha (CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power), Ms. Mridula Ramesh (Author of “The Climate Solution”), Mr. Shalabh Tandon (Regional Head of Operations and Climate Business, IFC – International Finance Corporation) and Mr. Craig Johnson (Head of School at the American School of Bombay).

Expert Advisor to Startup India Seed Fund Scheme

Anjali Bansal has been appointed on the Expert Advisory Committee for the Start Up India Seed Fund Scheme announced by Honorable Prime Minister. The scheme provides an outlaay of INR 945 Crore to provide financial assistance to startups for proof of concept, prototype development, product trials, market entry and commercialization.
